2025 Greater Los Angeles Commercial Real Estate Outlook
SPEAKER: Ryan Patap, Senior Director of Market Analytics, CoStar

The 2-20 LAMA luncheon, featuring speaker Ryan Patap, included discussion about the outlook for commercial real estate property types, the region-wide impact of the recent devastating LA fires on CRE, and where the market could be heading as a result. The event, held at the new venue, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, was very well-attended. The venue was wonderful with a welcoming ambiance and delicious food!

We heard from LAMA Co-Chair David Rosenthal about his journey since losing his house in the recent Palisades fire. He spoke about the challenges of navigating through choppy waters of dealing with insurance, site clean up, architects, contractors, city planning and approvals, hyper-escalating construction costs, and deciding whether to rebuild. LAMA member Tony Festa shared some of his experiences on the same journey.

During group introductions, attendees were asked to consider and share with the group, “If you had ten minutes to gather things before evacuating your house from an advancing fire, what would you take?” Answers ranged from: pets, photo albums, and “Go Bags”, to a collection of antique children’s books, coin collections, to clean underwear and socks. What would you take?

Ryan Patap is a Senior Director of Market Analytics for CoStar, where he is responsible for Costar’s coverage of Los Angeles’ commercial property markets. Ryan has a decade of experience in real estate research, most recently with CBRE investment Management, CBRE’s investment management business, where he was a director on the Research and Strategy team. He has also held research roles with Chicago-based real estate investment manager Heitman, as well as Hines and flexible office startup Knotel.
